Introduction of Religious, Cultural, and Social Activities of the office of the Grand Ayatollah Duzduzani Tabrizi
The Grand Ayatollah Duzduzani Tabrizi, along with his esteemed office, has taken extensive religious, cultural, and social activities to promote religious culture in society. In this regard, we briefly outline some of the most important activities of this office:
Construction of Mosques and Hussainiyas
In line with promoting religious culture and the necessity of creating suitable infrastructures, the Grand Ayatollah has taken effective steps towards this goal by constructing numerous mosques and hussainiyas in different provinces such as Azarbaijan, Tehran, Qom, and Alborz. One notable example is the restoration of the Mojtehedi Mosque or the 63 pillars in Tabriz, which dates back to the Qajar era and had been abandoned in previous years and was restored and repaired through the efforts of His Eminence and is now one of the active mosques in Tabriz.
Equipping Libraries
reconstruction, updating, and equipping of numerous libraries in cities and villages across the country is one of his cultural activities. The reconstruction of the library of Talebiyeh School in Tabriz, consisting of a study hall, storage room, and other facilities, is a prominent example of his activities in this field.
Sending Preachers to different Parts of the Country
During many years, The Grand ayatollah has dispatched numerous preachers to different parts of the country .also With the increase in the activities of deviant groups, more than 100 specialized preachers were sent to over 500 cities and villages in the Azarbaijan regions in each period for the purpose of educating people on religious issues, which had a significant impact in those areas. In these programs, the activities of the preachers were monitored and controlled by his majesty’s inspectors in this type of activity. This project was later implemented in other regions of Iran, including Tehran, Alborz, Lorestan, and Isfahan provinces.
Construction of Special Accommodation for Preachers
After sending preachers to the Azarbaijan regions and considering the lack of facilities in those areas, His Eminence undertook the construction of equipped houses and rest houses for the dispatched preachers, along with public health and welfare facilities in those areas.
Explanation of Advertising Requirements
Students and preachers from Azerbaijan, Turkey, and some other countries, to advance and propagate the Imamye religion, in close contact with His Eminence, regularly attend and benefit from his guidance, and operate under his supervision in those areas.
Intellectual Struggle against religious Deviations
Given the increasing activities of deviant groups and sects such as Sufism, Baha’ism, and Wahhabism in recent years, the esteemed authority, in collaboration with some scholars and professors of the seminary, established an institution named “Defense of the Sanctuary of Islam” to combat these deviations in beliefs
Printing and Distribution of Books for Enlightenment and Counteraction against Deviant Sects
The esteemed office,has been fighting against deviant activities through printing and distributing specialized books, issuing fatwas, and issuing numerous statements. Some of these books include: “Sufism from the Perspective of the Imams of Ahl al-Bayt,” “The Emergence of Sufism among Shiites,” “Nematollahi and Gonabadi Sects,” “Zahabiya and Oveyssiya Sects,” “A Brief Journey into the Ethics of the People of Truth (Alilahiyan),” “Two Axes of Wahhabi Beliefs,” “The Birth of Baha’ism from Sufism,” etc. Additionally, the esteemed office purchases and distributes other books on recognizing deviant sects, criticizing false philosophy and mysticism, etc.
Holding Training Courses on Recognizing and Critiquing Deviant Sects
The esteemed office dispatches preachers and scholars to various parts of the country and holds numerous meetings to enlighten and counteract deviant sects such as Baha’ism, Sufism, Wahhabism, Yamaniyah, and mystical circles .
Construction and Reconstruction of Housing and Provision of Building Materials
Given the occurrence of several destructive earthquakes in the Azerbaijan regions and the extensive destruction in those areas, the esteemed office, with the participation of benefactors, has undertaken the construction of residential houses, their reconstruction, and the provision of building materials to help the people of those areas. These benevolent aids, during the continuous earthquakes in the last two decades, have been sent by the esteemed office under his supervision to cities such as Ahar, Varzaghan, Haris, Sarab, and Khoy, as well as to Syria, including the construction of over 55 residential houses, over 100 trucks of building materials, several equipped containers, and several billion tomans of cash aid.
Establishment of the School of Imam Ali (AS)
In order to promote religious teachings and meet the needs of the religious community, His Eminence established innovative religious sessions. These sessions were founded in Tabriz in 1974, where they were held weekly and seasonally in mosques around the city, with most attendees being young and educated individuals.

Establishment of Religious Education Sessions for Newcomers
His Eminence initiated weekly sessions to educate newcomers and teenagers in religious matters. These sessions, held in over 50 mosques and hussainiyas in Tabriz, were led by eighty clerics of the city, with approximately a thousand participants. Participants not only learned the Quran but also studied religious rulings, beliefs, religious chants, and methods of debate with opponents. It’s worth mentioning that the results of these sessions and activities were made available to the public at the end of each session.
Meetings and Dialogues with Leaders of Other Abrahamic Religions
In line with the esteemed authority’s attention to promotional discussions and introducing the school of Islam and the Imamite religion, His Eminence had meetings and discussions with leaders of other Abrahamic religions and cultures. In one of these meetings, Bishop Songhulashvli Malkhaz , the Archbishop of Georgia and the Caucasus region, visited His Eminence’s office and discussed the establishment of a global center titled “Abrahamic Religions Reconciliation Center” in Georgia. This project is currently ongoing.
Collaboration with Charities and loan Funds
The esteemed office has continuous cooperation with charities and loan funds in Tehran, Qom, and Tabriz to provide interest-free loans to students and disadvantaged groups.
Distribution of Aid Packages and Livelihood Assistance
The esteemed office, by covering hundreds of needy families, distributes financial aid and livelihood packages containing essential household items on a monthly/yearly basis in various areas of Qom and Tabriz.
Student Scholarships
Every year, a substantial portion of the budget is allocated to distribute scholarships to tens of thousands of students from various regions of Iran and foreign countries, managed by His Eminence’s office.
Public Sessions and Meetings
Due to His Eminence’s belief in direct and face-to-face interaction with people without any formalities or barriers, continuous sessions and meetings have been held. In addition to the presence of men and women from various regions of Iran, Shia Muslims from other regional countries such as Azerbaijan, Turkey, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and some Arab countries regularly visit His Eminence’s office. They discuss their issues, problems, and viewpoints with His Eminence, who always welcomes them with an open mind, provides guidance, and assists in solving their problems.
Introduction of Religious, Cultural, and Social Activities
The Grand Ayatollah Haj Mirza Yaddollah Duzduzani Tabrizi, as a prominent Shia authority, responded to the request of some believers by publishing his fatwas alongside the book “Khulasat al-Ahkam” in 1994 and published his book “Tawdhih al-Masail” in 1998.
His practical treatise has been published in numerous editions and in various languages including Persian, Arabic, Urdu, Azerbaijani, and Turkish. His Eminence is one of the distinguished disciples of the late Ayatollah Sayyid Mohammad Kazem Shariatmadari (may his pure soul be sanctified), from whom he received a complete course in jurisprudence and principles over a period of 25 years, strengthening his jurisprudential foundation. Among his other teachers are esteemed Ayatollahs: Borujerdi, Khomeini, Golpayegani, and esteemed scholars: Damad and Allameh Tabatabai.
